Horrible Histories: Rotten Romans Gets a New Trailer, and Some New Faces

Regular Bleeding Cool readers may have heard me go on abot how the TV version of Horrible Histories is one of the greatest contrbutions to modern British popular culture in recent decades. A kids educational programme made up of comedy sketches set across human history, and some killer songs to boot, it put together a core team of actors and writers, who have become the new Monty Python, going on to create TV shows Yonderland and Ghosts, as well as the movie Bill.

However, that core team are remarkably and notably absent in the first Horrible Histories movie, dubbed Rotten Romans.

There is no sign of Martha Howe-Douglas, Mathew Baynton, Jim Howick, Simon Farnaby, Laurence Rickard or Ben Willbond.

There are a few other folk though. Launching in the UK an Ireland on 26th July, it is going to be a monster hit anyway. Over here, anyway, no release date for the US, yet.

Here's the trailer, poster and PR…

As the Romans prepare for an historic showdown with the Celts at the Battle of Watling Street the two new friends find themselves lined up on opposite sides of the battlefield.
