Daniel Dae Kim will be stuck in space in a race for survival in writer-director Joe Penna’s Stowaway. Kim joins Anna Kendrick, Toni Collette, and Shamier Anderson in the sci-fi space thriller.
The Hellboy star will play a biologist in a spaceship bound for Mars only to have a lost stowaway (Anderson) cause major damage to their life support.
The biologist and his commander (Collette) find themselves at odds with the ship’s medical researcher (Kendrick) as the crew attempt to survive on their diminishing limited resources and averting certain death.
Penna, who achieved notoriety through YouTube, is co-writing the script with Ryan Morrison. They previously worked together on 2018’s Arctic with star Mads Mikkelsen. Morrison will also serve as executive producer and editor for Stowaway. Filming begins June in Germany and will be produced by XYZ Films, Augenschein Filmproduktion, Rise Pictures and RainMaker Films. Yale Productions, XYZ, and CAA Media Finance are financing the film, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
On top of Hellyboy, Kim’s kept busy with his recurring role on ABC’s The Good Doctor and his eight year run on CBS’ Hawaii Five-0. He’ll be in the Netflix film, Always Be My Maybe with Ali Wong, Randall Park, and Keanu Reeves premiering May 31.
