Earlier this year, copies of The Mighty Thor #390 by Tom DeFalco and Ron Frenz were selling on eBay for anywhere between $2.60 and, when someone got lucky, $16.50. That's no longer the case. As a result of a certain scene in the movie, sales of the issue are way up, going from $50 as high as $71.

It would happen again, decades later, in Fear Itself #7 by Matt Fraction and Stuart Immonen. And he was totally Captain America here.

This one hasn't quite attracted the speculators though and can still be picked up for a couple of bucks online. But it's Captain America as Captain America, fighting with the hammer and with a bit of lightning action. So if you are interested, run quick on this one. I hear it's just been tipped on Bleeding Cool.

Of course there was that controversial moment on the Secret Empire Free Comic Book Day. But that was a fake out, it was a rewritten hammer, with Worthiness replaced by Strength as a qualifier and wielded by a Hydra Captain America. Still, you never know… and you can pick that up for just a buck.
