A Tale of Two Tweets – Jonathan Hickman on X-Men or Eternals?

Bleeding Cool told you a couple of days ago about a certain advert that Marvel Comics was running this week.

Apropos of nothing, comic book writer Jonathan Hickman has posted twice in the last months. This:

And then this.

Those would be the apes from 2001: A Space Odyssey, in which we see the evolution of prehistoric apes influenced by a mysterious alien monument, to evolve into a space-faring humanity over the millennia.

Half an hour later, Marvel tweeted that advert.

Coincidence? Hickman has been long-rumoured to be working with Marvel on a new project, It could fit X-Men, mutant evolution and all that.

But it could also fit The Eternals, a Marvel property created by Jack Kirby in 1976 which looked at the origins of the Marvel universe and the Celestials that planted life across the universe, including Earth and influenced the evolution of humanity. Kirby also adapted 2001 as a graphic novel, also published by Marvel in 1976…. and now The Eternals will be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe for Phase Four… nat, urally the comic books will want to get there first.

And could Jonathan Hickman be writing it? Mindless speculation of course.

I am told to expect further ads from Marvel that may explain more. Or may confuse more…
