'The Walking Dead' Season 9, Episode 12 "Guardians" [Bring Out Your Dead 912! Live-Blog]

Welcome back to Bring Out Your Dead: Bleeding Cool's The Walking Dead Live-Blog as we take a look at the 12th episode of the long-running AMC series' ninth season, "Guardians."

Last week's episode of AMC's The Walking Dead saw a resolution to Alpha (Samantha Morton) and Daryl's (Norman Reedus) standoff over the fates of Lydia (Cassady McClincy), Alden (Callan McAuliffe), and Luke (Dan Fogler) – and it didn't go well. Daryl's inital reaction to let Lydia stay and take the fight to the Whisperers was met with the harsh reality of the extent to which Alpha will go to get her daughter back. He learns pretty quickly, as Alpha not only offered up Alden and Luke for the chopping block but proved she was willing to sacrifice a baby to the walkers… just because she can.

It's a sacrifice Daryl isn't willing to make, and though he knows giving Lydia back to Alpha is a mistake… this round goes to Alpha. In this week's episode "Guardians," it looks like there won't be much time between rounds as Henry (Matt Lintz) goes after Lydia… with Daryl and Connie (Lauren Ridloff) on his trail… as it appears all of us will get our first formal introduction to Beta (Ryan Hurst)

The Walking Dead s09e12 "Guardians": While one community struggles to ease tensions that threaten to divide from within, the true nature of another group comes into focus. A mission to rescue a friend has deadly consequences.

The cast and creators of AMC's The Walking Dead discuss Alpha's leadership style and the moral dilemma the group faces by giving Lydia back to her. Plus, some perspective on why the Kingdommers would go on a dangerous side mission "just" for a movie projector bulb:

AMC takes us behind the scenes with Ridloff and the crew to see how they created such an authentic look at what it's like to be deaf in the apocalypse:

The second half of "The Walking Dead" Season 9 finds our groups of survivors, both old and new, continuing to deal with the impact of events that took place during the six years that have passed. Since the disappearance of Rick, many of these characters have become strangers to each other, and in some ways, strangers to themselves.

What they do know is that they are in undeniable danger. They will soon realize the world just beyond does not operate as they thought. The group's rules and ways of survival no longer guarantee their safety. A whole new threat has crossed their paths, and they soon discover it's unlike any threat they have encountered or endured before. The group will start to question what they think they see. What may appear to be normal in this post-apocalyptic world could actually be more disturbing and terrifying than when the apocalypse first broke out. All that is certain is the stakes are high and numerous.
