Joss Whedon has Signed Secret Buffy The Vampire Slayer #1 Variant Covers, in Store Today

If your local comic shop retailer seems extra happy this week, it might be because of Buffy The Vampire Slayer #1 and publisher Boom Studios.

The first issue, sold out at Diamond as we first reported, is in comic stores today. And Boom Studios has added two new, unannounced variant covers in the mix.

The two secret covers, illustrated by Dan Panosian (Slots), were limited to only 100 copies each and were randomly inserted into the print runs of the #TeamSlayer and #TeamVamp FOC Covers by Miguel Mercado (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers).

Retailers who placed orders for either of these covers at Final Order Cutoff had the potential to find one of these secret covers in their regular shipment this week.

As if secret covers weren't enough, 198 out of the total 200 covers are signed by the Dan Panosian (pictured) while two are signed by Joss Whedon himself.

Retailers, readers, do check those comics. You never know what you may find… even unsigned, these are the two most rare Joss Whedon-related variant covers ever published. Copies are currently listed on eBay for $80 each.
