#Spidersona Hashtag Sees Thousands of Spider-Verse Characters Created by Fans – and Pros…

There's a new hashtag in town. #Spidersona. For people who have just seen Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse and want to create their own parallel universe Spider-Man, possibly but not necessarily based on themselves.

The #sona designs are a way for people to enter fictional worlds themselves, and have been popular for #pottersona, #transformersona and the like.

I think this may have been the first use of the term and example of a #spidersona in this fashion, inspired (or inspidered) by the parallel dimensions of the Into The Spider-Verse movie…

But whoever came up with it, it got popular fast. Such as Mari, a 2D animator, storyboard artist and creator of the comic Peritale who brings us Sweetpea.

And the floodgates have opened… here are just a few.

Some big names also got involved…

And Spider-Gwen co-creator Jason Latour added a few more of his over the years….

Where's your #spidersona?
