A New Image from John Wick: Chapter 3 Features Not One but Two Dogs

The John Wick series kind of came out of nowhere back in 2014. No one had heard of it until it started to make the festival rounds and by the time it got a wide released the movie was hailed as one of the great action movies of the decade. It launched then unknown directors Chad Stahelski and David Leitch onto the A-list practically overnight. While Leitch has moved onto another franchise, Stahelski stuck around for the equally great John Wick: Chapter 2. Now we're getting the third entry in the series, John Wick: Chapter 3, and Entertainment Weekly got a new image and a chance to speak to star Keanu Reeves and Stahelski.

"The third chapter is literally connected to 2 and starts with John Wick on the run," Reeves says. "It goes crazy from there."

This series is known for going a bit crazy not to mention great worldbuilding. We're getting a new addition to this world in the form of Sofia as played by always great Halle Berry.

"She has a past with John," says Reeves. "I end up going to find her to see if she can help me."

This isn't a John Wick movie unless there are some dogs that provide insight into our characters. While John has one dog Sofia has two cute little furballs.

"Whereas John's puppy was symbolic of his wife, Halle's two dogs are symbolic of someone she's lost," says Stahelski, adding that they developed an action sequence around her "canine assistants…. They work very well tactically."

Good dogs. The first thing everyone asks a director these days is if they would like to do another entry in the series. In this case, Stahelski admits that he would love to do another one if asked but he isn't making any plans just yet.

"We did the first one and were like, 'They're going to laugh at us,'" he says. "This one, I'm already looking for janitorial jobs."

John Wick: Chapter 3, directed by Chad Stahelski, will star Keanu Reeves, Ruby Rose, Ian McShane, Common, Angelica Huston, Asia Kate Dillon, Mark Dacascos, Jason Mantzoukas, and Halle Berry. It will be released on May 17th, 2019.
