A Live-Action Plastic Man Movie is in the Works at Warner Bros.

And the list continues to grow. We’re thinking that Warner Bros. and DC should just announce that every single character has a movie in the works and call it good. It seems we’re here again and Warner Bros. has announced yet another adaptation in the works. According to The Hollywood Reporter a movie based on the character Plastic Man is in the works. This one is more than just an “in development” announcement since they have attached a writer to the project in Amanda Idoko.

Plastic Man is an old school comic character with origins that trace back all the way to 1941 at Quality Comics. Quality, like a lot of publishers, went under just as the Silver Age was beginning in 1956 and DC picked up the rights to the character. Since then he’s been popping around the DC universe in a couple of different iterations, was even a member of the Justice League, and has a very devoted fanbase.

The hero’s true identity is Patrick “Eel” O’Brian, a crook-turned-good guy. O’Brian was part of a gang and during a botched heist is shot and wouldn’t you know it, also doused with a chemical liquid. Left for dead by the gang, he awakens to find himself imbued with the power to shapeshift and stretch his body into almost anything thanks to being the most malleable man alive. O’Brian eventually reforms and becomes a police officer.

It’s anyone’s guess at this point whether or not this or any of the precisely 6000 announced DC movies actually get made. We like to hope that someone even considering bringing a character called Plastic Man to the big screen is further proof that Warner Bros. and DC are realizing that these movies can be silly. Also, we live in a reality where they are thinking of making a big screen adaptation of Plastic Man so that’s a plus to this timeline.
