SEGA Releases a Dev Diary Going Behind-The-Scenes of Sonic Mania

In case you were wondering about all the work it took to bring Sonic Mania to life, SEGA has you covered with some new videos. The game has been a retro success for the company, especially with Sonic Mania Plus recently being added to the mix with entirely new content. So with a new life in the franchise and people interested in how things came to be, SEGA released a pair of developer diaries showing off a couple of key areas. The first video shows off the art and design behind the game while the second focuses on the game's design in general.

It's a pretty interesting look at how a company that's been working hard to push the series forward with modern games the past twenty years found more success in a retro version, and all the work and care they put into making it work. Considering the different areas they could get into when it comes to Sonic Mania as well as the Sonic The Hedgehog franchise as a while, this is probably just the start for this series as they explore what it takes to make a game like this. A lot of work goes into paying homage while keeping it modern.
