Daredevil #605 brings this story arc to a close with a big and dramatic final battle outside city hall. Like the last issue, it’s grand and ridiculous, but it’s so genuine in its presentation. Plus, that presentation itself is just a ton of fun.

The Wilson Fisk segment doesn’t really go anywhere and mostly seems there for a gag. It doesn’t really land, but it’s still a little fun to watch the Kingpin browbeat the ever-lovable Foggy Nelson.

The big fight has brief appearances from some of New York’s other heroes, such as Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Spider-Man, and Moon Knight. I dig that, of course.

There is an ending stinger that comes off as a bit goofy. It sets up for whatever the next stage of the Mayor Fisk story will be. It involves an otherwise smart character making a laughably bad decision. That’s the only part of the comic that doesn’t quite click.

Mike Henderson and Matt Milla deliver another great-looking issue, with Henderson’s more stylized and semi-cartoonish work fitting the over-the-top nature of the story. The big action scene in front of city hall is given a lot of detail, care, and kinetic energy. Milla’s color work gives that extra spark of energy by balancing dark black and gray with red and yellows in the foreground.

Daredevil #605 is brings the Hand invasion story to a roaring finish, as Daredevil gathers his allies for a grand battle for New York. It’s tone and presentation are ridiculous, but it’s a lot of fun. This one gets a recommendation. Check it out.
