Deadpool 2 Almost Had a Post-Credits Scene Starring Chris Evans

There are always going to be deleted scenes in movies, but when it comes to movies like Deadpool 2 you have to wonder what kind of insanity that got left on the cutting room floor. Writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese sat down for a Q&A on Twitter. Twitter asked them about any deleted scenes, and they told the story of the "suicide montage".

REESE: What we thought was a really fun bit that didn't make the movie, that we shot, was a montage of Wade Wilson trying to kill himself. We called it the "suicide montage" and he was doing crazy, crazy things like–

WERNICK: –Going into a polar bear enclosure–

REESE: –Drinking draino. Anyway it was awfully fun and will probably end up on the DVD extras.

WRENICK: Also in the first [Deadpool] script, didn't make in either one.

REESE: Maybe the third movie we'll work it in.

They were asked by someone on Twitter about a suggestion that Ryan Reynolds and Chris Evans switch characters, with Reynolds playing Captain America and Evans playing Deadpool. Reese thought it was interesting that Evans was brought up, because they had an idea for a post-credits scene that involved him.

REESE: Yeah you mentioned Chris Evans. We had a post-credits sequence that we thought of shooting and we wrote some pages for [but] we didn't end up shooting it. Chris Evans comes in to interview for X-Force, it's like further X-Force interviews, and we assume he's there as Captain America but then Deadpool calls him out as the Human Torch instead.

That last scene sounds fantastic and perfect for the type of humor they are going for. It's a shame it didn't come to be, but maybe they could find a way to work it into another movie somehow. It's too good to pass up.

Summary(?): After surviving a near fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry's hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor – finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World's Best Lover.

Deadpool 2, directed by David Leitch, stars Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, T.J. Miller, Josh Brolin, Brianna Hildebrand, and Zazie Beetz. It will be released on May 18th.
