DC Comics previously announced that Bryan Hill would take over Detective Comics from writer James Tynion IV with Detective Comics #982

Currently writing The Wild Storm: Michael Cray, in which Deathblow basically kills analogues of the Justice League, the author of Postal, Romulus, the Cyberforce relaunch, Ash vs Evil Dead and the upcoming Black Lightning and Hong Kong Phooey was meant to begin a Batman storyline in #982, called On The Outside co-starring Black Lightning.

Here is the solicitation for Detective Comics #982.

DETECTIVE COMICS #982
Written by BRYAN HILL • Art by MIGUEL MENDONÇA • Cover by EDDY BARROWS • Variant cover by MARK BROOKS
“On the Outside” part one! Duke Thomas. Cassandra Cain. They and other young heroes don’t intend to stand down, no matter what Batman thinks is best. Who can Batman trust to guide them? They need a teacher…and Black Lightning fits the bill!
On sale JUNE 13 • 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US • RATED T

Believed to be a relaunch-by-stealth of The Outsiders, something seems to have changed. The solicitation now reads:

DETECTIVE COMICS #982
(W) Michael Moreci (A/CA) Sebastian Fiumara
The Cursing of Gotham City!” The abduction of a child by a strange, militant, religious sect of Gotham’s homeless takes Batman into the city’s darkest subterranean tunnels… and into the upside-down world of the vicious spirit Deacon Blackfire! In Shops: Jun 13, 2018
SRP: $2.99

With Michael Moreci and Sebastian Fiumara taking the slot, dropping the Black Lightning and the Outsiders references and bringing in native American evangelist bad guy Deacon Blackfire for his first Rebirth appearance.

If the Bryan Hill and Miguel Mendonca storyline will be rescheduled, DC Comics are yet to reveal it, as well as the new cover…

UPDATE: Bryan Hill tells us all his arc is merely slipping an issue…
