Clarifying That DC Comics Editorial Rumour Regarding Man Of Steel

In the bars at Portsmouth Comic Con, there was a little talk about an article that ran on Bleeding Cool last week. That DC Comics editorial staffers were placing bets on how many pages would be delivered by each of the solicited art teams for each of the six weekly issues.

It also may be that the original article may have been taken in a way other than intended.

Rather than suggest that the editors were being callous regarding the schedules of their artists by betting on how many pages they would fall short, the intent, as it has been explained to me, was one of criticism that management had forced the schedule for Man Of Steel to follow Action Comics, weekly, to make the most of new arrival Brian Bendis. Even if not all the artists were capable of delivering all the pages in such a short period of time. And leaving books finished with fill-in artists. It was meant to be a critique, not of the creators, but of unrealistic management demands.

Happy to make that clearer. I hope.

Oh and more to come…
