The passing of Stephen Hawking at the age of 76, has been marked for his impact on pop culture as much as the understanding of the universe. Here’s how a few comic book industry-and-related people marked the occasion.

"A rocket ship will take you far
To see a crater, quasar, star,
Constellations — brilliant, bright
A planet, comet, meteorite
Blast off, child,
it's time for flight."
Rest in peace Stephen Hawking pic.twitter.com/APwcHlb1G9

I’ve seen his age quoted as both 75 and 76 this morning, which probably says something about the nature of time.

Heard the news just as I finished seeing Annihilation, which somehow seems fitting. Thank you for expanding our knowledge and our imaginations, Stephen Hawking. https://t.co/dRtXfoueO6

People opposed to affordable health care for all don't get to shed a tear for Hawking, who relied on it for the majority of his life to literally push the sum total knowledge of the human race forward.

Aww man… I was just doodling a young Stephen Hawking the other day as a warm up. RIP. pic.twitter.com/wiVjqIMVuI

My father's relatively recent ALS diagnosis changed everything for us. I'm uniquely sad to hear that Stephen Hawking has passed away, and amazed by the things he did. Rest in power.

OH NO! Stephen Hawking passed away. "Intelligence is the ability to adapt to change." Well, I'm alright with being idiotic for one night while I refuse to live in a world bereft of his genius. #RIPStephenHawking

His passing has left an intellectual vacuum in his wake. But it's not empty. Think of it as a kind of vacuum energy permeating the fabric of spacetime that defies measure. Stephen Hawking, RIP 1942-2018. pic.twitter.com/nAanMySqkt

Once had privilege of meeting genius Stephen Hawking. We had so much in common. Same first name. Both been in The Big Bang Theory. So much.
— Stephen Merchant (@StephenMerchant) March 14, 2018
It was truly such an honor getting to work with the incredible Stephen Hawking.. He made us laugh and we made him laugh. His life and career workings have been many a subject matter on @thebigbangtheory__ and we are all better for it. You will be missed but the world is grateful for the knowledge and courage you leave in your path. Thank you for being an inspiration to everyone 🙏🏼 #stephenhawking ♥
I have a small connection. My cousin Jonathan Jones was Stephen Hawking’s flatmate at University and is played by Daredevil in that film. He later married Jane Hawking and so Stephen’s extended family became part of ours.
I also recall a week back in 2009 where Fox News made the ridiculous claim that the NHS was a breeding ground for terrorists, at the same time Stephen Hawking was talking about the NHS saving his life. Well, there was only one way to go…
