Today's Infinity War Prelude Explains The MCU and the Infinity Stones

This summer sees Avengers: Infinity War hit cinemas. Starring… everyone. And acting as a sequel, threequel or fourquel to so many other films.

But just as last month's Avengers: Infinity War Prelude comic was a MCU canon look at Wakanda before the Black Panther movie, and debuted the Infinity War Iron Man armour, so the second issue looks at the Infinity Stones across the MCU movies and ties a few things together that had not been made text before.

As Wong and Doctor Strange talk about what was and what is to come.

The Time Stone is the Eye Of Agamotto and was used in Doctor Strange to turn back time and now adorns his necklace.

The Space Stone was in the Tesseract that appeared in Captain America: The First Soldier, lost from Asgard, and then again in The Avengers. It was returned to Asgard, but Loki took it in Thor: Ragnarok.

The Mind Stone was in Loki's Staff in The Avengers, granted to him by Thanos.

And then used in Avengers: Age Of Ultron to create both Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver and the Vision. It remains in the Vision's forehead.

The Reality Stone was the Aether, used by Malekith in Thor: Dark World and then kept for safekeeping by The Collector, so as not to have two stones in Asgard. Though it now has none…

The Power Stone on the Planet Morag was known as the Orb, stolen by Star-Lord in Guardians Of The Galaxy…

…and later entrusted with the Nova Corps. And the Soul Stone…

…anyone fancy interpreting that text and image? This would be the first canon appearance of the Soul Stone. My favourite (though denied) theory that it is Adam Warlock, just as Warlock wielded the Soul Infinity Gem in the comics. The named location of the stones, Tesseract, Aether, Necklace, Orb, Scepter make the word THANOS but missing the H, causing many to speculate that the Soul Stone may be the eyes of Heimdall, or Hela or others. Adam Warlock's original name was Him…

So we get a quick runaround the stones. But the comic also provides a little more motivation for Doctor Strange's appearance in Thor: Ragnarok and his kidnapping of Loki.
