Apple Corps to Judge Comic Stores’ Beatles Displays

Titan Comics and Apple Corps are running a competition for comic book retailers, ahead of the release of the graphic novel adaptation of The BEatkes’ Yellow Submarine movie for the 50th anniversary of the film.

Only the third Official Beatles book authorized by Apple Corps, the hardcover, written & illustrated by Bill Morrison, Editor of MAD Magazine, tells the story of how The Beatles are recruited by the captain of the Yellow Submarine to help him. The music-loving, underwater paradise of Pepperland has been overrun by the music-hating Blue Meanies and their leader, Chief Blue Meanie. They turn the people of Pepperland into living statues by dropping apples on them and imprison the Pepperland’s guardians, Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band inside a soundproof blue glass globe, before confiscating all the music instruments in the land. Pepperland’s mayor sends aging sailor, Young Fred, out in the fabled Yellow Submarine to find help. He travels to our world where he stumbles across the Beatles and begs them to help him free his world. They agree and head back to Pepperland, teaming up with Jeremy The Nowhere Man along the way to help overthrow the evil Blue Meanies through the power of music and love.

Titan Comics are also running a competition for comic shops to win $1000 in Yellow Submarine limited edition merchandise.

To enter, retailers must create an in-store Yellow Submarine display on August 8th, to tie-in with the release of Titan’s new The Beatles Yellow Submarine graphic novel. So you have a little time to get ready.

Tweet pics to @comicstitan on August 8th and displays will be judged by Apple Corps.

Stores may want to consider using the line of Beatles Titans Vinyl Figures in the display…
