Playmobil's New Ghostbusters Figures Let You Trap Your Own Ghosts

Playmobil and their Ghostbusters line have been very popular with fans young and old. A new wave is in stores now, featuring the Ghostbusters in their uniforms from the sequel Ghostbusters 2. These releases also feature app integration with the Playmobil app, allowing you to trap your own ghosts! They were kind enough to send over one of the sets for us to check out, and we were impressed!

  • Work alongside the voice of reason, Ghostbuster Winston Zeddemore, as he encounters all types of paranormal activity
  • When synced with the free PLAYMOBIL app (download required), the Ghost trap projects a spooky Ghost into the clear Hologram cone for real ghost-catching action
  • Choose from four different ghosts to capture! set includes Ghostbuster Winston Zeddemore, removable Proton pack, Proton wand, Poke meter, stickable silicone slime splashes, and other accessories
  • Recommended for ages six years and up
  • Figures can bend, sit, stand and turn their heads

Winston comes with plenty of accessories, including glove attachments, a slime cannon and pack, slime pieces, a PKE meter, and of course the main selling point: a ghost trap. The only complaint I ever have with these is the lack of elbow articulation, they would be infinitely better if they could just bend their arms. Not a deal-breaker, especially since that is what they are, but boy, would it be nice.

The main selling point on these would be the trapping of the ghosts using the app. The app itself is free to download and pretty straightforward. When you turn it on, make sure all the lights are out wherever you are. You can choose from four different ghosts to capture — naturally, I went with Slimer. When prompted, you need to place the trap on your mobile device is a specific spot and click the button. It took a minute for the app to detect the trap in the right spot, but once it did, the image of the ghost appears hovering above the trap itself! It is a pretty cool effect — I wish the projection were more powerful, but for a $16 toy, that may be asking a lot.

These are great figures for your little ones. At $16, there is enough in the package that can go with your other Playmobil Ghostbusters toys that this is worth it. The app stuff is neat, but not a major selling point. The play factor is lessoned by having to have it pitch dark to get the effect to work properly. If you are looking to add these to your collection, though, they are worth picking up.

You can order these figures right here.
