Arrow Season 6: What to Look Forward to in 2018

Arrow is set to return from it's mid-season break on January 18th and we know that Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) is in trouble. The FBI and agent Samanda Watson (Sydelle Noel) have a case against him for being the Green Arrow which includes testimony from Rene Ramirez (Rick Gonzalez). This fact drove a wedge into Team Arrow leaving Oliver with only Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) and Diggle (David Ramsey) on his side. And if that wasn't enough, Cayden James (Michael Emerson) has put together a team of his own to bring down the Green Arrow.

We go into the new years with some pretty big questions lingering, some story driven and some real world driven. Let's start with why exactly Cayden James is going after Team Arrow. This is definitely personal and with the way he's orchestrating things, you have to start questioning everything. Agent Watson being so dogged to bring Oliver down, is James pulling her strings? Alena (Kacey Rohl) going to Felicity for help earlier this year, did she go because James told her to?  What is his overall plan and how has he pulled Vigilante (Johann Urb), Black Siren (Katie Cassidy), Anatoly Knyazev (David Nykl) and Richard 'Dragon' Diaz (Kirk Acevedo) all to his team?

There is talk of him making an unlikely ally, but we haven't had any casting announcements. It could be that something changes and he works with Agent Watson, but I don't see that. There was also the surprise return of Noah Kuttler (Tom Amandes), also know as the Calculator and Felicity's father. It seemed weird to have him come back for such a short scene where his absence wouldn't have been really noticed. This has been a seasons about fathers, so having him come back does work towards the theme.

And there is the pending return of Roy Harper (Colton Haynes) who is supposed to come back for a short arc. I negated him as the ally because he would be a very likely ally that doesn't fit the description. Arsenal is supposed to return to help resolve an urgent matter with high stakes for the team. But while he is back, there will be something between him and Thea (Willa Holland) that will lead to life changing consequences for both of them. It sounds like something romantic as the two were once in love, but that could run the gambit from them ending up back together and Thea going off with Roy to Roy leaving and we discover Thea is pregnant. Roy Harper had a daughter in the comics named Lian.

Arrow season 6 picks up again on January 18th with an episode called Divided.
