James Wan: Aquaman Won't Use That Dialogue Trick From Justice League

There are a couple of things about Aquaman that we're all a little worried about after seeing Justice League. One of those things is making sure that everything that takes place underwater doesn't look completely stupid. It can look a little stupid because this is a superhero movie about a guy that can control fish, but not completely. Underwater dialogue was always going to be tricky to handle, and Justice League found a way around to visualize it.

[Warning for very minor spoilers] When Aquaman (Jason Momoa) has a conversation with Mera (Amber Heard) she creates a bubble in the water for them to speak in. It's a little silly looking, and fans were wondering if the "air bubble" was going to be present in the solo movie. Aquaman director James Wan confirmed on Twitter that won't be the case.

So no air bubbles for dialogue in the solo movie — or at least not yet. This movie is still more than a year away; a lot can change in a year. Warner Bros. is likely in a bit of a panic thanks to Justice League, so we can hope Wan is able to keep Warner Bros. out of his editing room.

Aquaman
