Jeffrey Tambor Exits Transparent Amid Sexual Assault Allegations; They Were Planning To Write Him Off Anyway

Jeffrey Tambor is yet another man in Hollywood who is under fire after allegations of sexual assault have come out against him. There have been rumors since the allegations came out that the writers were going to write Tambor off of the show, but Tambor decided to just leave the show instead, citing the "politicized atmosphere", according to Deadline.

"Playing Maura Pfefferman on Transparent has been one of the greatest privileges and creative experiences of my life," the Emmy winning actor told Deadline on Sunday. "What has become clear over the past weeks, however, is that this is no longer the job I signed up for four years ago," Tambor added of his role as the lead on the Jill Soloway created show.

"I've already made clear my deep regret if any action of mine was ever misinterpreted by anyone as being aggressive, but the idea that I would deliberately harass anyone is simply and utterly untrue," Tambor asserted as well. "Given the politicized atmosphere that seems to have afflicted our set, I don't see how I can return to Transparent."

The word "misinterpreted" is one that gets thrown around a lot in cases like this. It's meant to take the blame and turn it on the victim to make them look like they're taking something wrong way. He is very sorry that you were offended or, in this case, "misinterpreted".

Saying he was "deeply sorry if any action of mine was ever misinterpreted by anyone as being sexually aggressive," Tambor also responded to the claims: "I know I haven't always been the easiest person to work with. I can be volatile and ill-tempered, and too often I express my opinions harshly and without tact. But I have never been a predator – ever."

He is saying that it is somehow everyone else's fault for taking him the wrong way — that's not how any of this works. This is not about you; this is about the people you were allegedly terrible to. As writer Our Lady J said after the second allegation came out:

Thank you for your leadership, Trace. Thank you for speaking up. And thank you for your proposed solution at the end of your statement. You are right — we cannot let trans content be taken down by a single cis man.

Transparent can go on without Jeffrey Tambor. They were already talking about writing his character out. Now they have to do it off screen. There is nothing political about all of this; it's basic human decency.
