FX used last night’s season finale of Ryan Murphy‘s American Horror Story: Cult to debut the official trailer for the second season story arc of American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace. Set to premiere in January 2018, the new trailer highlights the scope of the series beyond the actual murder. “This world is wasted on me. Yet this world also made you, Versace, into a star. You’re not better than me; we’re the same. The only difference is that you got lucky.”

With a premiere directed by Murphy and written by Tom Rob Smith, American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace examines the murder of fashion designer Versace (Edgar Ramirez) and the manhunt for serial murderer Andrew Cunanan (Criss), who killed Versace on the front steps of his Miami Beach home. The media firestorm surrounding the murder would create a climate of fear, anger, and mistrust throughout the Miami, Florida area for the next eight days. Cunanan eventually committed suicide and his body was discovered on a house boat eight days later.
