Colton Haynes Teases Roy Harper's Return To Arrow

This isn't a lot to go on, but it's Sunday and the news is filled with stories of Hurricanes and the NFL returning — so we'll run with it. Colton Haynes has been in the news lately for his return to Teen Wolf and his run on American Horror Story, but fans of Arrow want him back as Roy Harper/Arsenal. That may happen sooner than expected.

Colton Haynes

Haynes's character was introduced as a bad boy from the Glades, a bad part of Starling City (Yes, back when it was called Starling) who interacted with and eventually got involved with Thea Queen (Willa Holland). Harper had a chip on his shoulder and liked to stand up for the underdog, which got him in trouble a few times and the Vigilante/Hood/Arrow got him out. This led him to want to follow the same path, which eventually he was able to do when Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) took him in and trained him.

Though he spent some time with Mirakuru in his system, it was eventually removed and Roy became Arsenal, a regular member of Team Arrow. He would eventually sacrifice himself to save Oliver by posing as the Arrow when Oliver's secret identity was revealed. He went on the run, and even though he was pulled back to Starling at one point, he set off again and has been away for some time. Thea took over the costume, but under the name Speedy.

In the comics, Roy Harper starts out as Speedy (which seems like a better name for the Flash's sidekick) before eventually growing up and taking the name Arsenal — also the Red Arrow, but that's another story.

Haynes replied to a fan's comment about how much she misses him on Arrow with this tweet:

How he will be back, when, and in what capacity is all unclear. But fans of Haynes/Harper might want to start looking for set photos with him in it.

Arrow returns for Season 6 on October 12th to the CW.
