Thor: Ragnarok – Thor Turns Into A Fanboy When He First Meets Valkyrie

It turns out being a god doesn't stop you from being a bit of a fanboy. At least that's the impression we're getting from what we've heard about the relationship dynamic between Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson). When Screen Rant paid a visit to the set of Thor: Ragnarok last year, they asked star Chris Hemsworth about the relationship between Thor and Valkyrie, and apparently Thor is a fanboy.

Thor: Ragnarok

"It's like Thor's meeting his hero! And he's absolutely smitten by her and because of her history, and being a Valkyrie and all of that. But she's also this beautiful woman so he's kind of caught off guard. And she can, you know, she could beat the s*** out of him if she wanted. So I think he hasn't come up against that very often.

It certainly wasn't the case with Jane. There was a whole different affection and love there. So that was another, you know, 'How can we make that different from the previous one?'"

It's no secret that Valkyrie is being set up to replace Natalie Portman's Jane Foster as a love interest. The romance between Thor and Jane is something a lot of fans like to complain about, which is a shame because Jane is an interesting character; the writers just felt like they were having a hard time writing her in a way that felt natural.

When it comes to that breakup Hemsworth has assured fans that they find a way to address it.

So Thor is just over Jane now?

Umm, no we have this, we have some… some very respectable fun with how that relationship may have come to an end [laughs].

That's nice and ambiguous, but it's going to be interesting to see how this relationship plays out to fans. Thus far not many of the romances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe have been received well. Steve and Peggy are well liked, and most people seem pretty on board for Tony and Pepper, but that's about it. We'll just have to see.

Summary: Imprisoned, the mighty Thor finds himself in a lethal gladiatorial contest against the Hulk, his former ally. Thor must fight for survival and race against time to prevent the all-powerful Hela from destroying his home and the Asgardian civilization.

Thor: Ragnarok, directed by Taika Waititi, stars Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Cate Blanchett, Jeff Goldblum, Idris Elba, and Mark Ruffalo. It will be released on November 3rd.
