Poe Dameron's Ship Gets An Upgrade In Star Wars: The Last Jedi

It looks like Poe Dameron's (Oscar Isaac) ship is getting an upgrade in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. As part of their Star Wars spread in their latest issue Empire has revealed a new look at Black One and what kind of upgrade it's getting.

Poe Dameron's Ship 'Black One' Gets An Upgrade In This New Star Wars: The Last Jedi Picture

The X-Wing (an Incom-FreiTek T-70, to be precise) has, according to Rian Johnson, been specially modified by Resistance engineers, with a temporary accelerator pod affixed to the aft section. According to The Last Jedi director, the pod, when primed, increases Dameron's speed, allowing him to outrun First Order cannon emplacements. It's just a temporary boost and will burn out quickly but it's enough to get beyond the barrage of turbo laser fire from First Order Star Destroyers such as the one depicted in the image.

From the trailer it looks like Poe Dameron might be losing yet another ship but it'll be pretty badass for some of the movie at least. If the ship does end up biting the dust there will be at least one scene where we get to see this modification in action. Otherwise they wouldn't have bothered to tell us about it.

Summary: Having taken her first steps into a larger world in Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015), Rey continues her epic journey with Finn, Poe and Luke Skywalker in the next chapter of the saga.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi, directed by Rian Johnson, stars Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Mark Hamill, Oscar Isaac, Carrie Fisher, and Adam Driver. It will be released on December 15th.
