Aquaman is still more than a year away but we’ll be getting a look at some elements of the movie in the upcoming Justice League movie. One of those pieces we’re going to get a look at is Willem DaFoe as Nuidis Vulko the science adviser for Atlantis. DaFoe didn’t tell IGN much but we did learn a few things about him.
“Vulko is 100% Atlantean. So that’s different, because [Aquaman] is half-Atlantean and half-human,” Dafoe told IGN.
DeFoe has already told us that a lot of his scenes are going to be underwater and while he couldn’t tell us much about the look he’ll be sporting he did say the look doesn’t match a toy we’ve seen.
“So they’re quite different and I’m capable of being outside of the water, but mostly it’s underwater. And I’m a guy that’s been around for a while. I have a kind of… let’s call it an armor. It’s a good look, I like it a lot. The day that they show the shot of the character will accomplish more than I can by talking about it now. I like the look very much, and know they released a toy recently. But it doesn’t look so much what I look like [in the film].”
The toy in question is a Mystery Mini.

When asked about working with director James Wan DaFoe had nothing but nice things to say about the man.
“James Wan is fantastic. I don’t know what to tell you because I don’t want to create any spoilers. I’ve been on a little break after shooting for a couple of months off. And now, tonight I go back to Australia to shoot for about another month. But all goes well…Until people actually start seeing footage, I don’t want to spoil anything.”
He’s got the “vague spoiler free” answer down pat. You’re going to fit in just fine in this modern age of superhero movies and social media, Mr. DaFoe.
Summary: Arthur Curry learns that he is the heir to the underwater kingdom of Atlantis, and must step forward to lead his people and to be a hero to the world.
Aquaman will be directed by James Wan and stars Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Nicole Kidman, Patrick Wilson, and Willem Dafoe. It will be released December 21st, 2018.
