Dwayne Johnson’s ‘Rampage’ Has Wrapped Production

The time for giant apes is on us again. The video adaptation of Rampage has wrapped production according to star Dwayne Johnson. The movie, which is set for an April 2018 release date, began back in May. Johnson has been documenting the experience with a ton of set photos and, as is common with his instagram post, plenty of background to those photos as well. The one he posted today says that the movie has wrapped and thanking his co-stars for their hard work.

Johnson also has a few more set photos on his instagram from the production.

Leave it all on the set. Back when I was a punk kid my dad would take me to the gym on weekends and kick the shit outta me in the weight room and on the wrestling mats. He'd say you didn't get up early to come here and give half ass effort. Leave it all in the gym. Years later when I played ball at The U, we applied the same principles: we left it all on the field. When I became a pro wrestler, that was part of my nightly pre match prayer. Asked for the strength to leave it all in ring – whether I was wrestling in flea markets or sold out stadiums. Leaving it all…means you give every f*cking ounce of effort you can, to give the best performance you can give. Whatever it is you do, whatever job you have.. at the end of the day, leave it all there. Rampage has been the most physically grueling role of my career. Got my ass kicked and handed back to me the whole movie. But I'm grateful to go to bed 💯 satisfied I left it all on the set. Who the fuck am I kidding, I don't sleep, but if I did, I still left it all on the set. #LeaveItAllPhilosophy #Rampage

Headhunter lean.. with full grenade belt. While shooting this running scene all day, one of our producers said "Rock you're running like Tom Cruise in his movies".. I said stop the music right there. Nope. Cruise runs like 6 o'clock. Straight up and down, arms tight to the body like an offensive player running for the end zone. This is the run of a defensive headhunter. Forward lean, stride long, arms open and pumping. Intense eyes fixated on the target 🎯which my warrior ancestors lovingly referred to as your head. This running form is also called, "get me the fuck outta here because there's a genetically modified 50 TON BEAST that's trying to eat me and all I wanted to do is just want to go home and have tequila and waffles". #HeadhunterLean #FightOrFlight #IDontTasteLikeChicken #RAMPAGE

Rampage will now move onto post production and getting all of the special effects ready. The movie has been shot with motion capture and the studio will spend the next few months bringing a bunch of giant animals and monsters to life. We can expect our first look at Rampage by the late summer to the fall.

Summary: Primatologist Davis Okoye (Johnson), a man who keeps people at a distance, shares an unshakable bond with George, the extraordinarily intelligent, silverback gorilla who has been in his care since birth. But a rogue genetic experiment gone awry transforms this gentle ape into a raging monster. To make matters worse, it’s soon discovered there are other similarly altered alpha predators. As these newly created monsters tear across North America, destroying everything in their path, Okoye teams with a discredited genetic engineer to secure an antidote, fighting his way through an ever-changing battlefield, not only to halt a global catastrophe but to save the fearsome creature that was once his friend.

Rampage, directed by Brad Peyton, stars Dwayne Johnson, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Naomie Harris, Malin Akerman, and Joe Manganiello. It will be released on April 20th, 2018.
