The Missing Chapter In The Watchmen/Dark Knight Trilogy To Be Republished – Rick Veitch's The One

grargh

In 1985, Marvel Comics published The One by Rick Veitch, before both Watchmen and The Dark Knight. Amongst aficionados of revisionist superhero stories it was always the third leg of the tripod formed by Dark Knight and Watchmen. However, not having DC's publishing programme behind it, and hot having anything resembling recognisable superheroes saw it fade. Even among Rick Veitch fans, it was superseded by his King Hell Heroica, Bratpack and Maximortal.

But there should be no doubt it's importance to the growth of the superhero medium.

And now, after many years out of print, Veitch has announced he has signed with IDW for a new edition of The One. New scans from original art and recolouring, overseen by editor and master comics archivist, Scott Dunbier.

To be published in 2018. I wonder if the King Hell Heroica might follow? We're still waiting for the third book…
