‘Yardie’, The Directorial Debut Of Idris Elba, Begins Production

YardieIdris Elba has begun production of his directorial debut and they have released the first image according to Variety. The production is set to film on location in London and Jamaica over the course of the next seven weeks.

The movie stars Aml Ameen (Sense8) and is based off of a book by Jamaican-born British author Victor Heady. The movie is being adapted by Brock Norman Brock (Bronson) and Martin Stellman (For Queen and Country).

…a young Jamaican named “D” who arrives in London in the early 1980s and unexpectedly discovers the man who assassinated his revered brother in Jamaica a decade earlier. When his quest for justice explodes into a violent street war, he puts both himself and the lives of his loved ones in peril.

Yardie has no current release date.
