Trying To Piece Your Continuity Together With Miles Morales… (SPOILERS)
Today's Spider-Man #15 by Brian Bendis and Szymon Kudranski looks like it may be inching its way towards dealing with the issue of Miles Morales' mother.
Because Rio Morales was dead. Miles was brought up by his father, without a mother. Then Secret Wars happened, reality was rewritten, Miles Morales was part of the Marvel Universe rather than the Ultimate Universe. So was his dad, and his schoolfriends. And so was his mother.
Who knows what, how they know it, if anyone aside from Miles has to deal with the knowledge of two separate realities, has been avoided. Possibly because it could be really dull.
This issue doesn't quite go there yet though.
Amid some father/son bonding time over burgers and fries, deftly picked out by Szymon in tiny panels that scatter the dialogue and show the passage of time – and of burgers and fries very effectively.
But it's more about the revelation of Miles Morales' secret identity, and what his father, Jefferson Morales has been up to that concerns her right now.
And neither of them wanting to say "you were dead! Reality rewrote itself! In fact, I'm not even sure what Jefferson knows in that regard."
One day you find out your son is a superhero and your husband is a SHIELD agent again. Knowing that you are a consolation prize from the Molecule Man because your son gave him a burger might be a little too much to take, all at once…
But at least burgers are something mother, father and son have in common.
Spider-Man #15 is published by Marvel Comics today. And as a reminder…
