Michael is a long- standing comic book fan, who has incorporated that love in his stand-up shows from time to time.

I understand that he also tried to manifest that love by working with famous comic book-to-radio drama producer Dirk Maggs to create and pitch an audio adaptation of the 2000AD strip by Alan Moore and Ian Gibson, The Ballad Of Halo Jones.

Sadly BBC Radio 4, the home of such things, declined. I don’t know why, it’s not like Michael would have tried to play Halo himself…

The original series, serialised in 2000AD, told the tale of a young working class woman in the future who ends up travelling the galaxy and becoming one of the most important figures in human history. It remains unconcluded.

Where did she go? What did she do? Nothing, according to the BBC…
