A Little Something For Everyone At Emerald City Comic Con

20170304_113307Burr Martin writes,

Sick of superhero comics? So was Natalie Riess.

After a friend of hers made a joke about "Cooking Manga" and "Aliens", she started writing and drawing exactly that. A mixture of aliens and gourmet foods.
Battle Space Lunchtime is the story of Earth baker Peony is abducted and forced to go on a cooking show in space.

Riess does it all. She draws, edits, colors and writes the entire book, mainly for creative control. She listed Bone and Cucumber Quest as two of her influences, if that helps understanding more about Battle Space Lunchtime.

She told the crowd this was her first real print book after working 5 years on web comics and it was nice having something to hold in your hands.

So if you're sick of the typical SLAM/BASH superhero books, I urge you to pick up Battle Space Lunchtime for something completely different. Volume 1 is out now and volume 2 should hit stores in June.
