The Comic Book Cameos In X-Men Days Of Future Past, Pointed Out (SPOILERS)

There are a number of cameo appearances in X-Men Days Of Future Past, of which Bleeding Cool has run a spoiler free review, and is preparing a more in depth article. Mostly they involve X-Men characters from previous films. You’ve probably heard about a few on Bleeding Cool and other film reporting sites.

But I’m not writing about those now. I’m talking about the comic book creators who appear in the film, in one specific scene.

Oh and there is no Stan Lee.

But there are two appearances who might pass some by. When Trask is in front of a government committee, talking about his Sentinel programme. He’s getting short shrift from the representatives of the United States, they aren’t buying what he’s selling them. Not yet.

But two of the members giving him that grilling see rather familiar.

That’s because one of them is Len Wein, co-creator of Wolverine, Storm, Colossus, Nightcrawler, and the man who gave new birth to the X-Men in the seventies, writing Giant Size-X-Men #1

And the other is Chris Claremont, who took over from Wein, the writer of the Days Of Future Past story and who was the writer who established X-Men as the most successful title in American comic books, a position it held for decades with Chris at the helm, from the seventies through to the nineties.

As writers go, they are the two most responsible for the X-Men that you see on screen, and for the popularity to the comic that saw them adapted into film.

So when you see the movie do watch for them. I saw their full faces filling the screen at the IMAX on London’s largest screen just now…
