Steven Universe Actually Launched Today

stevenBoom! Studios recently announced they were creating a new comic book series based on the upcoming Cartoon Network cartoon, Steven Universe.

Today, unannounced in solicitations because, you know, papers weren't quite signed then, they debuted a four page Steven Universe story in the back of Adventure Time Spooktacular 2013, a week before the first episode airs.

Consider this the first Steven Universe appearance in comics. And, it seems, in anything.

Created by Rebecca Sugar, an alumni of the Adventure Time animated show, where she served as artist, composer, and director, she's widely considered to be responsible for many of the show's best episodes and landed on Forbes' "30 under 30" this year. She is also the first woman to have her own show on Cartoon Network in the history of the network. And she wrote the preview comic in today's Adventure Time…
