Doctor Who, Live From The MCM London Expo – And River's Back

Doctor Who, Live From The MCM London Expo – And River's Back
Matt Smith has been pulling people's heart strings over the departure of Rory and Amy from Doctor Who by mentioning them a lot and getting the audience to Awwww in response.

He chose his favourite episode of the year as Asylum Of The Daleks, just over The Angels Take Manhattan… So that's official.

Little three year old Elliot stole the show, by saying that he loved the Doctor, and asking where Amy was. Matt told him that she is in New York, happy, and eating fish fingers and custard every Thursday lunchtime…

Answering how he felt about his time coming to a close on the show, with the Fall Of The Eleventh happening eventually, he promised many adventures to come, and a fear of whoever it is who will eventually replace him and "make me leave"…

He also talked about New York as being his favourite location to film in. He described filming with Karen and Arthur as two obnoxious brothers annoying their sister… "Play with us, we're bored. Play with us…" and how they ended up creating their own language between them. Next year, I bet there will be people in this crowd speaking it.

On being told by another youngster, Joshua, that Matt Smith was his hero, Matt talked about his hero being Eric Cantona, but always goes back to his Dad, who he describes as a "groovy dude".

He talked about playing the Doctor, and how you can take the character home… "You can run the bath, as the Doctor, and then it's a much more interesting bath." Certainly some of the fans would most definitely agree with that.

And he confessed to actually liking fish fingers and custard.

He talked about being on set with Lily Cole talking about art, feeling a little out of his depth, leaning on a lamp stand, and it falling on her head and finishing any attempt at a clever conversation.

He also wants a go on the Master… But would want John Simm playing him. As the audience cheered he gave a knowing look to his producer.

Oh and as we were all filming Smith, he was filming us for BBC Worldwide.

And we were told that the upcoming episodes, without Amy and Rory, feels like we have a new Doctor. And that Matt thinks the first episode on the new half-season could well be a classic.

And he admits to drinking tea out of a Doctor Who mug, with his face on it. And liking it.

They know, of course, what is happening for the fiftieth anniversary. But aren't saying… other than it's cool. Well, yes!

And what was on the other side of the Doctor's door in The God Complex? Matt revealed it as ten Doctors in hangman nooses, with one noose hanging free.

He also got his thirtieth birthday card, as the audience sang "Happy Birthday."

…and, yes, he did promise the return of River Song.
