Wizard World Blinks, Changes Big Apple, New England And New Jersey Dates

Wizard World Blinks, Changes Big Apple, New England And New Jersey DatesIt was looking to be a clustershag of epic proportions. The New England Wizard World show the week before Reed's massive New York Comic Con in mid-October, the Big Apple Wizard World on the same Manhattan street the same weekend as NYCC and the New Jersey Wizard World the weekend after. Some kind of North West pincer movement seemingly designed to to suck guests and attendees away from the NYCC and seen as part of a grudge match between Wizard and Reed. Everyone would suffer reduced attendance as a result – but none more that the Wizard World shows.

Today, Wizard World have blinked. Despite previously stating that this was the only date in October they could hold the Big Apple Comic Con, they've pushed it back two weeks to the 1st-3rd October, the weekend before the New York Comic Con. The New England Wizard World will now be on the 15th-17th, the weekend after the New York Comic Con. And the New Jersey Wizard World will no longer be the weekend after, but has its date yet to be determined.

Gareb Shamus is quoted as saying "We spoke with the publishers and their creators, and they worked with us to help facilitate new dates. They pledged their support, and we liked what they had to say,"

Basically something along the lines of "Are you mad? No one will go to the Big Apple Comic Con if it's on the same weekend as NYCC!" I'm sure.

The Big Apple Wizard World has also moved now to the newly refurbished Penn Plaza Pavilion… I seem to recall the Big Apple show was held there before the Wizard buyout. Wizard have confirmed Joe Madureira, Adam West and Mickey Rooney at Big Apple so far – guests harder to have secured if the date was the same as NYCC I'm sure.
