Antony Johnston To Co-Write Andy Diggle’s Daredevil

aj 300sqAlthough the current solicitation was written before it was all signed and sealed at Marvel, Wasteland‘s Antony Johnston will start co-writing Daredevil with current ongoing writer Andy Diggle from issue #505 until #507.

Johnston is a long time comics/games/novels writer with comics such as Wolverine: Prodigal Son, adaptions of Alan Moore stories such as Light Of Thy Countenance, the graphic novel adaptations of the Alex Rider novels, author of the graphic novel Julius coming out as a movie from Mandalay with F Gary Grey directing, the Dead Space game and comics, and his ongoing Wasteland series for Oni.

But, despite writing the Wolverine manga series for Del Rey, his name has been missing at the Big Two. Until now.

I’ve known Antony for an age, and we have a habit of sharing aeroplanes. He looked spick and span at the MCM the other month, and I’m made up for his current run of success.

I also used to occasionally describe Antony as my long lost brother. Until he asked me to stop.

Andrew Diggle told me;

I asked Marvel if I could bring in Antony as a co-writer for this 3-issue arc as I needed to catch up with my deadlines — Antony’s fast and organised, whereas I’m slow and disorganised. We’ve been talking about working together for years — ever since those long-ago get-togethers down the Valiant Trooper, in fact.

That’s a pub, fact fans.

I’m really chuffed with the way it’s working out. But that’s probably because Antony’s doing all the hard work.

And from Antony;

Yeah, Andy and I actually went freelance within a few months of each other, and we’ve chatted several times about working together on something. This is just the first time we’ve had the opportunity to make it happen.

And the way co-writing seems to work at Marvel, odds are it won’t be the last.
