What is Band Of Heroes?
I understand it's the tentative name for a new Marvel mini-series by Paul Jenkins set in the World War II era, using a number of Timely characters who only appeared briefly before disappearing into publishing limbo. Combined with a number of Jenkins' own creations, the series follows the characters as they sign up to war and just became one of the troops.
It looks like it may be a sister project to Jenkins' World War II Captain America material and Ed Brubaker's Marvels Project.
When asked about the existence of the project, Jenkins told me;
In the immortal words of Tom Brevoort, it's like Marvel lined me up for a five-yard field goal. I feel this kind of wartime material really suits me because I have a lot to say.
