Why Did Ben Affleck Decide To Use Deathstroke In The Batman

deathstroke

While I'm not convinced that Deathstroke is the 'main bad guy' in The Batman, he is going to be a pretty unique flavour considering we've never seen him in a film before.

That leads to the question, 'why did director Ben Affleck decide to go with the assassin?' Speaking to Collider in a recent interview, he revealed why he likes the match up, but also, what version of the character he is drawing from. He said:

I just had an instinctive feeling that he would match up with [Batman] well. You know, I'm a big admirer of that character as well, especially in the New 52, the way that they did Deathstroke, and I thought that it could work.

So there you go. We are probably looking at the New 52 version of the character.

A fight between Batman and Deathstroke is always fun to see play out, thanks to the physicality and speed of both, so I hope we get a nice juicy fist fight between the two.
