Scoop: This Is How Jim Lee Will Draw A Twice-Monthly Suicide Squad Comic – With Back-Up Stories

Jim Lee is the artist on the new twice-monthly Suicide Squad comic written by Rob Williams.

How? Jim Lee has a reputation for… taking his time on projects. With some like Pearl Of The Deep, the 1963 Annual, WildCATS with Grant Morrison and All-Star Batman And Robin The Boy Wonder either never making it out or being halted mid-way through.

So how will a 20 page comic out every two weeks fare?

Well, at San Diego Comic-Con, DC Comics will announce that each issue will feature a 12-13 page lead story written by Rob Williams and illustrated by Jim Lee and Scott Williams, plus a 7-8 page backup story by Williams  illustrated by top DC Comics talent that will spotlight individual members of the team.

First up for Suicide Squad #1 will be a 7 page story drawn by Jason Fabok.

In this "Personnel File" tale, Amanda Waller confronts Deadshot with a painful memory of a past mission with Batman-a mission with that scarred Floyd Lawton's own family, and one that forever linked his destiny with the Dark Knight.

Issue #1's thirteen-page lead story is written by Williams, with art and cover by Jim Lee and Scott Williams. In "The Black Vault" part one, when a mysterious and definitely super-important cosmic item falls out of the heavens and into enemy hands, America has only one option: Task Force X, Amanda Waller's strike team of incarcerated super-criminals. A one-stop-shop for plausibly deniable espionage and ultra-violence, this "Suicide Squad" only handles missions they're not expected to survive!

Here's a look at the first page by Jim Lee and Scott Williams from the first issue…
