A University Put Assassins Creed's Leap Of Faith To The Test – The Results Are Not Surprising

Assassins-Creed-2-PC-28Look, we all knew this. The 'Leap of Faith' in Assassin's Creed is ludicrous. An assassin jumping from a huge height into a measly clump of hay is just one of those things we accept about the series because it's a video game. We afford that excuse a few times to every game.

That didn't stop a sect of students from the University of Leicester from putting the mechanic to the test and seeing how survivable the jump would really be.

What they found was not surprising.

In most cases, an assassin popping out of the bale of hay unscathed after jumping off a building isn't going to happen. The paper suggests that the highest someone could make the jump and be relatively unharmed would be 12-13 meters.

Now, if you are willing to rupture some of your organs, cause internal bleeding and break a few bones, but still survive, you could go considerably higher. The paper suggests you could make the jump from 50 meters and live. Maybe.

Either way, next time you are running across the rooftops to find a 1.5 meter pile of straw, just make sure you aren't any higher than 13 meters. It won't end well otherwise.

Thanks for pointing the paper out Eurogamer.
