Star Wars And Marvel Worlds Could Turn Up In Kingdom Hearts 3

By Patrick Dane

[Image 1]Let me admit something. I've never played a Kingdom Hearts game. It's something I don't feel too bad about either. Every enthusiast of an art form has missed some 'classic' or 'must play'. That isn't to say the idea doesn't intrigue me though. Mixing Final Fantasy and Disney into a game that tries to tell a semi-earnest story is so insane. That is why even I have my eye on Kingdom Hearts 3. I was in the room when the game was announced at E3 2013 and it was electrifying.

On that front, in an interview with Kotaku UK, the game's co-director Tai Yasue has revealed that the game might be taking advantage of the properties Disney have picked up in the nine years since Kingdom Hearts 2. When asked if Star Wars and the Marvel Universe were on the table, Tasue said:

Well, yeah. They're all under consideration. Nothing's off-limits, we're considering all of the worlds. There are so many wonderful concepts. We're happy about that, but at the same time it's really tough to choose.

While some might be cautious of the idea, associating Kingdom Hearts with animated titles, there is precedent. Pirates of the Caribbean and Tron have both featured in the past. That included 'realistic' Jeff Bridges and Johnny Depp avatars interacting with Donald and Goofy. Kingdom Hearts is weird.

Patrick Dane, once a would be filmmaker, has somewhat accidentally found himself as an entertainment journalist over the past two years. You may recognize him from around these parts, or you may not. Who's counting? From E3 to SDCC to the Top Gear track, Patrick has explored the world of entertainment wherever it has taken him. He is always happy to talk words at you. Hopefully the ones above will suffice your needs.
