A Time Travel Crime Story – The First Of This Week’s Two Extended Looper Trailers

Emily Blunt and Joseph Gordon-Levitt are on a real, and extended, upswing in their careers right now. Bruce Willis? Perhaps not. But all three have big roles in Rian Johnson‘s Looper, and that’s looking like something they should all be proud of.

Here’s the first UK full trailer for the film.

The Fosse-flavoured dance sequences are getting to be a thing with Johnson, by the look of things. Not that I’m complaining – everybody loves those winners.

Now, it seems like suspension of disbelief will be necessary at the moment Young Joe recognises Old Joe as himself. Even with the prosthetics, I’m just not seeing the likeness between Gordon-Levitt and Willis. After we’re over that hump, though, it should be plain sailing for that particular conceit. You only have to swallow the pill once. And they’ve more than got the acting chops to pull of a more complex set of relationships between the characters than just a lookalike face.

Looper is released in both the UK and US on September 28th.
