I don't know if you remember, but thanks for recommending 'Mysterious Skin', all the same. I will never question JGL's acting chops again. That was a committed performance.

By way of returning the favour, have you seen 'Bully', by Larry Clark? If not, you might ... well. 'enjoy' is maybe the wrong word, but you might dig it. While what happens is very different, it has a similar, doomy, sun-bleached Dennis Cooper vibe about it. And is there anything better than that?
