In Praise Of… Francis Manapul On Trinity #1

Francis Manapul work on The Flash and then Detective Comics for DC Comics' New 52 saw him take greater writing duties on the comics, as well as providing full colour artwork. It also enabled him to push the design aspects of comics, featuring all kind so innovative storytelling device, and we kind fell for some of his more extreme work in that regard.

Today, Manapul is the only credited creator on the cover of Trinity #1 – aside from Steve Wands on lettering, he did it all. And the book opens with three double page spreads that use the logos of Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman in a new fashion, as panel borders across the splash, effortlessly establishing the iconic tone of the series.

Isn't that sweet? As is the rest of the comic…
