Arthur Bellfield writes,

Bradley Golden has been writing comic books ever since he was a teenager. He started out writing short stories for anthologies before moving on to his own projects such as Orision and starting his own imprint Second Sight Studios. After a brief stint with Insane Comics, he's back on his own with a new book entitled Biting Bullets.

Arthur Bellfield: You've recently celebrated a successful kickstarter campaign with the comic Biting Bullets with a goal of only $800 which is a lot lower than most comic campaigns these days which range around $3-6,000. What made you seek out what most people would consider a low amount to pay for the production, printing, or backer rewards? And, do you think that people asking for $5,000 to create a single issue comic book are being greedy? If so, why?

Bradley Golden: I recently have had a few unsuccessful kickstarters, what I had learned from those is that if you don't have a huge following, you won't meet your goal. Plain and simple. I too was looking for $1,200 to $3,000 as a funding goal. Didn't hit it, not even close. So, what that taught me was that a lower funding goal is much more attainable, and reaching stretch goals are much easier. Plus, I feel once people see the art and effort going into BITING BULLETS, that they would be on board. As far has printing goes I'm willing to shell my own money out to see this book printed, and the stretch goals. The Backer rewards will be delivered on time, and art team compensated fairly. My opinion on people asking for $5,000 to create a single issue, is that they are not being greedy in my opinion. You base your funding goal on the level of fans you have or feel you have going in. If you been promoting long before the kickstarter launch then yeah, $5,000 can be reached. Like I mentioned before, my funding goal is based off of my fan base, and hopes of people liking what they see and gravitating toward the series. Which in turn would exceed funding goal and then some.

Arthur Bellfield: On your kickstarter page. You described Biting Bullets as your interpretation of James Bond. Can you elaborate on that because this seems like a revenge story more than an espionage/spy tale?

Bradley Golden: Sure, at the core of BITING BULLETS. It's about an organization of assassins, that the government call upon to do jobs they deemed to be impossible. This group have all of the fancy cars, great guns and futuristic gadgets. The UAG (United Assassins Guild) travels all over the world to take on missions and neutralize threats. The revenge aspect comes from Serena Mctavern being betrayed, and losing her husband while she was pregnant with her first child. So, years later Serena Mctavern doing hits for money on the side and trying to raise her now two children to a regular life. But, she is being hunted by the UAG at every turn. She constantly have contracts out on her, so she has decided in order for her family to be safe us for her to stop the UAG.

Arthur Bellfield: The basic premise of the book is about Serena Mctavern who was an operative of The United Assassins Guild (UAG) until she married another agent and they killed him. She goes rogue and at some point has another kid, yet she is still working as an assassin, but not for the UAG. So, they come after Why? Especially after all of these years.

Bradley Golden: Serena Mctavern, was one of the UAG's best agents. She knows all of their dirty dealings and operatives identities. They see her as a threat. For years Serena Mctavern, has been using a different alias to protect her family, and leaving no clues to her whereabouts. Until, they got a glimpse of her on a convenient store camera. Since then, the hunt has been on.

Arthur Bellfield: Judging from the preview pages you've provided this looks like a very bloody book including people having their heads shot off and a very intense sex scene. Some readers may turn away from the over the top sex and violence, what made you go this route with this story?

Bradley Golden: Two words : KILL BILL!!!! I love how Quentin Tarantino does his films with over the top violence and swearing. PULP FICTION anyone. I also like how comic writer Garth Ennis write stories with extreme gore and raunchy language.

Arthur Bellfield: You've teamed up with Marcelo Salazar who you also worked with on Chess Masters which was published by Insane Comics. What made you re-team with Marcelo and what does he add to this story that makes him the perfect artist for Biting Bullets?

Bradley Golden: Marcelo Salazar is an outstanding artist. Through our stint on Chess-Masters, I asked him if he could do the dark noir style art. He showed me his work on TRANCERS through Action Lab Danger Zone. It was spot on, to what I was looking for.

Arthur Bellfield: Speaking of Insane Comics, you've recently removed some of your titles from their banner. Was this because of sales or do you want to keep all of your titles under Second Sight Studios going forward or a mix of both?

Bradley Golden: It was actually a mixture of both, actually. Insane Comics is a company first and foremost, and publisher second. Each book has a set financial goal that must be reached for each quarter. Unfortunately, a few of mine didn't reach the mark, that and also, the teams on said books had left do the life or other differences. That is why I'm doing a reboot of sorts with my titles under my own company. I have a more reliable team attached to the titles.

Arthur Bellfield: And, finally since there are a few days left to support the Biting Bullets campaign…what can you tell readers that will make them want to run out and support this title now?

Bradley Golden: This is the first issue of a four issue mini series. If you love over the top violence, gore. Raunchy language, sex and great knife fights between women. This book is for you.
