What If The Creator Of Squarriors Started A Comic Con, Today, In Lake County?
Ash Maczko writes,
Count-i-Con 2016, the biggest and best pop culture convention in Lake County is coming to the Lake County Fairgrounds in Grayslake, Illinois this weekend. It features an amazing lineup of guest artists, a unique collection of awesome vendors, and many events, contests, and tournaments; this is a can't-miss-weekend for anyone who loves anything from crafts to cosplay.
To kick off the party, Friday is an 80s Prom Night with a live DJ, full bar, and early-bird shopping opportunities. Exclusive items and discounts are available so don't skip this chance to mingle with featured guests and vendors. On Saturday, experience the full Count-i-Con event with over 500 tables of vendors selling art, comics, toys, movies, games, books, posters, crafts, costumes, collectibles, and more! Saturday and Sunday are both filled with contests, gaming tournaments, panels, and workshops. Sunday's events include a Zombie Walk through the event as well as a Pet Cosplay Contest, co-sponsored by Save-A-Pet.
Guests will include Greg Hildebrandt, Timothy Zahn, Mark Nelson, Charles Urbach, Ashley Witter, Jeff Moy, Philip Moy, Bill & Linda Reinhold, Marie-Claude Bourbonnais, Dirk Manning, Dan Leister, Dave Dorman, Philo Barnhart, Vincent Proce, Chuck Fiala, Frank Fosco, MC Schoolly D, Ash Maczko, and many more.
Hundreds of vendors across the entertainment industry will provide comic books, collectibles, artwork, toys, muffins, and more.
Parents can even get a massage while their kids hunt for rare Pokemon.
Count-i-Con is home to numerous gaming tournaments. iCON will host Super Smash Bros singles and doubles brackets across multiple skill levels. Brass City Games will host Magic the Gathering constructed and limited format events. The Scions of Olympus will be showcasing tabletop games including Star Wars: X-Wing, Batman, Marvel Universe, Warhammer 40k, Malifaux, Guildball, and Dungeons & Dragons. Plus, there will be dozens of board games available to play with friends and strangers.
Three-Day Passes are just $10 each and there are a limited amount of VIP Packages. Each VIP guest will get the Count-i-Con exclusive AOD variant of Harley Quinn #1, as well as a whole back full of loot provided by Count-i-Con's vendors! And they can skip the lines with their own private entrance.
Count-i-Con was started by me, Lake County resident with a desire to bring the pop culture community to the suburbs. Together with Ashley Witter, we created Squarriors, an epic saga of a comic book published by Devil's Due Entertainment. "Team Ash" now touts two wildly successful Kickstarters, multiple original published works, and my variant of Harley Quinn #1 for DC Comics will be available as a con-exclusive all weekend.
