So How Much Are Comics Websites Worth Anyway?

Breaking Bad Money PileYesterday it was announced that Jonah Weiland had sold Comicbookresources.com to Valmet. No money was mentioned, but I was told it was a sizable eight figure sum.

But how much are websites actually worth? CBR would have come with all the offices as well, but what price a URL?

Well, here's what Worth Of Web estimates a number of comic book news websites (including this one) are worth, based on traffic, page ranking and demographic. It's probably a lot of nonsense… but hey. Here's what they say.

Graphic Policy = $17,000

Comics Reporter = $17,000

Comicosity – $26,000

Multiversity = $34,000

The Outhouse = $46,000

Comics Beat = $55,000

Comics Alliance = $1.9 million

Newsarama = $2.27 million

Bleeding Cool = $2.29 million

But Comic Book Resources? $62.5 million.

Boom.

However Comic Book? A rather high $78 million….

Which is odd, because when they link to Bleeding Cool we never see traffic from it – but we do from CBR…

Oh and compared to the publishers?

Marvel = $46 million

DC = $1.7 million

Image = $100,000

Dark Horse = $98,000

IDW = $44,000

Valiant = $2,600

Boom = $22,000

Archie = $20,000

Dynamite = $23,000

Diamond Previews = $65,000

Hiveworks = $23,000

ComiXology – $16 million

LINE Webtoons = $43 million

Stela = $60

Okay, I could afford that last one…
