The writer's for Arrow were very clever last night. Besides the episode itself, they had a few little moments of fun… the title of the episode Taken has to be a nod to the Liam Neeson franchise. Oliver Queen refers to his previous meeting with Mari McCabe as being Animated referring to the characters debut on the CW Seed and he tells us that John Constantine is in hell… a really good excuse for not coming to help. But those are the fun moments, let's get to the important ones.

1 – We'll start with the big one, Felicity Smoak finding out about William. This of course has nothing to do with Oliver having a son but rather him keeping it from her. And even though she knows it was the mother who insisted that Oliver not tell Felicity, she still blames him. She puts her feelings aside while William is in danger, but this doesn't bode well for the relationship… especially her walking away at the end of the episode. Yes, I said walking. Seems the chip Curtis Holt created works.

2 – We first get to see Vixen in action as she is chasing down random gun men and taking them out pretty easily. We get to see her use her powers and summon the spirit of a rhino… which looked really damn cool as the purplish outline of a rhino formed around her. The special effects on this really worked and it made the live-action version of the character work.

3 – The first meeting between Vixen and Damien Darhk didn't go well. He had already moved William and handled the attack very easily on his own. Once again he had the upper hand with his magic. Except he recognizes Mari's totem and in doing so gives Mari the idea that Darhk may also have a totem which Quentin Lance is able to confirm from having seen it in Darhk's office. This leads them towards the first possible weakness in an almost invincible character.

4 – While all of this is going on, Thea Queen confronts Malcolm Merlyn about the possibility that he told Darhk about William. He of course denies it but later when it's discovered that he was the one to actually abduct the boy, Thea goes off on him. He responds by telling her that he was doing it to protect them. Which adds to by thought that Malcolm is working to take over HIVE to replace the League of Shadows. He gives Darhk the boy knowing it would force Oliver to do anything to take out Darhk… maybe even kill. Malcolm does like manipulating everyone.

5 – They attack Darhk again but focus on getting his totem. Vixen is able to do that and it takes her some time… during which Darhk is trying to kill Green Arrow, Black Canary and Speedy… but she is able to destroy the totem, rendering Darhk powerless. Oliver is then able to take him out…. showing remarkable restraint. Now Darhk is headed for jail and has no magic… and we still have eight episodes left in the season.

6 – The end of the episode shows Oliver making a video for William to be seen on his 18th birthday. In the episode he got parenting advice from both John Diggle and Mari. Diggle's advice was to keep William as close as possible to keep him safe. Mari, who grew up without her parents, advised him to stay away from William to keep him safe and to give him a chance at a normal childhood. As always, Oliver makes the sacrifice himself and has Williams mom take him away to a place that even he doesn't know about.

This episode was important in that is shook everything up. Darhk's going to jail, Merlyn is part of Hive, Oliver's campaign is suspended, Felicity can walk but has called off the engagement. And there was the interesting scene where Laurel Lance confines in her father that Oliver having a kid from cheating during the time they had been together hurts. Will that become important?
