30 Thoughts About 30 Of Today's Comics – Phonogram To Star Wars To Ms Marvel

Welcome To Showside #3 gives the kind of editorial note that Marvel just wish they could give. Replacing animal cruelty with animal cruelty in a blase fashion and circular logic that provided endless loops of entertainment….

So who wants some violence? Phonogram, please provide the necessary, preferably to "Ballroom Blitz"

I have never heard it called Chekov's Pipewrench before, but there's a lot of it about.

Someone is clearly a little on the peckish side in Wrath Of The Eternal Warrior #3.

Whereas the tinned cuisine in Star Lord is a little bit on the live and screaming side.

Probably wouldn't put off Starbrand in Starbrand & Nightmask though.

Almost as peckish as the axe wielder in Symmetry #2. Well it's one way to get the packaging open.

There's a lot of it about in Valiant, as in Imperium #12. See that's what happens when you improve the packaging… still that's a cold way to deal with death.

Well, I mean there are colder, as in Transformers #49. Oh the robotity….

Devolution #1 is rather condeming if humanity – as it has every reason to be. But it could go further… because there is even worse…

And Amazing Forest #1 has a few examples of those as well.

Lumberjanes #22 know not to judge based on the way people act under pressure. Or how they look when they are doing it.

Right Postal #6?

Deadpool #6 seems to g for a Prez crossover with this journey to Deadpool 2099. Glad to know that most things haven't changed, right?

And The Spirit #7 just makes me want to go "awwwwwww…." I want to be a big galoot. Say I wonder if The Spirit keeps his hat on?

You know, like The Astonishing Ant-Man?

Of course such helmets can bring forth all manner of emotion, as in Batman & Robin Eternal….

That's the European Central Bank right? Carver #2 knows when it's all going to explode….
Seriously, where do they get the GCPD from? The seventies? Just be glad, Batgirl, that they are not police in the future… that shower won't be safe.

Patsy Walker aka Hell Cat gets the gang together. And also lets me realise just how many female-focused superhero titles are out today… Ms Marvel, Batgirl, Hellcat, Captain Marvel, Wonder Woman, Poison Ivy and more… and is more and more the norm…

Harley Quinn's friends, making heads explode in irony. Honest. And with such well placed pets too….

Wonder Woman, as well as continuing the blonde tall bespectacled look of Poison Ivy today with the totally-unrelated Dr Poison, sets this scene, somewhere unspecific in Western Europe. Where nowhere would actually have a English sign to London that far unless they were in England or Wales – and if they did, they wouldn't have a beaten and battered sign in kilometres or drive on the right…

Adventure Time: Ice King is having problems similar to my own Poison Ivy lookalikes today….

Yes, that's what Luke Skywalker looked like as a kid, in Star Wars. Say I wonder what dental plans they had on Tatooine? And is that a slightly thinner James Corden as Uncle Owen? Love to know who posed for these….

I Hate Fairyland has its own solution to such outbursts….

Silver Surfer #1 engages in a little cross-company crossovers with a GI Joe, Tron, Harry Potter, Doctor Who, Kill Bill and more, in a very engaging trademark dodging fashion.  I don't know, I bet some Nazis like Hellboy. Just for the art, you understand. Super Zero continues the reference game…

Ms Marvel brings some of her work out of the office… and tackles gentrification. Evil mind control gentrification, defeated by science of course. Which is what never happens…
